Bitcoin, AI and the Business of Trust

A day that stretched from exposed customer data to boardroom bitcoin buys and fresh questions over who controls artificial intelligence.

By Jack Ryder · Gotham Gazette

Yahoo Finance reported on 2026-09-12 that Okta is targeting confusion around AI agents with a new identity security push. OpenAI reported on the same day that it is presenting GPT-6 Astra as the next generation in intelligence for work. CoinDesk reported that bitcoin activity and passports were exposed after Revolut fell for a fake government request, while Cybersecurity Insiders reported that 48% of AI agents are running without meaningful security controls.

Stocktwits reported on 2026-09-12 that MSTR stock dipped after a new bitcoin buy, and that BMNR slowed its pace of Ethereum accumulation. Strategy disclosed on 31 August 2026 that it had bought 4,603 bitcoin for about $370 million, its first purchase since late June and the end of a ten-week pause, taking its holdings to 845,050 BTC. In the same disclosure, it reported repurchasing $152 million of its variable-rate preferred stock. Long the loudest voice against ever selling, Strategy sold bitcoin in 2026 for the first time.
