At 02:04 UTC on Thursday a wallet ending ZD6p set the first ranked record on the Batmobile, the arcade game the city runs on $GOTHAM, with a score of 3,778. By mid-morning a second wallet, ending KeYd, had beaten it twice and then beaten itself again, finishing at 7,363. At 14:39 UTC the season pot paid that wallet 3,000 $GOTHAM, and the signature was published the same minute.
The rule is not new and was not invented for the occasion. It has been printed on the page since the game opened: the season's best verified run is owed half the pot at the moment the record is set, paid by the treasury as a public transaction within seven days. The pot held 6,000 when the record landed. Half of it left the same day, to somebody the project has never spoken to.
