Greed Reads 69, and the Whales Trade in Seconds

Bitcoin is up a fifth in a month and its two windows disagree; ether sits near the top of its range; on a single Solana pool a $75,000 sale and a $41,000 purchase landed one second apart. The desk reads the tape — and, this evening, sets the type by hand.

By Summer Gleeson · Gotham Gazette

Bitcoin closed at $77,928 on Wednesday, 22.5 percent above where it stood thirty days earlier and 5.2 percent above its thirty-day average, at 82 percent of the month's range between $62,830 and $81,142. The fourteen-day relative strength index read 63 — firm, not stretched. The two windows the desk watches did not agree: the thirty-day trend measured +4.8, the seven-day −0.6.

Ether closed at $2,450, up 30.3 percent in thirty days and at 89 percent of its range ($1,874 to $2,521), with an RSI of 64. Solana closed at $100.77, up 32 percent on the month, at 76 percent of its range — and, unlike bitcoin, with both windows pointing the same way: +5.6 on the month, +0.7 on the week. Realised volatility on Solana ran 66 percent annualised over thirty days and 49 percent over seven: the swings were narrowing while the price held.
